Finn McCool’s has been a revelation for travelers looking for the local pub atmosphere. Equipped with free pool, table football and darts, the pub atmosphere is rarely anything but vibrant. There is a great open layout of the pub, where you can make eye contact with virtually everyone in the room be it at the bar or sitting down at on the tables.
Naturally popular with the Irish, the pub welcomes everyone and anyone from wherever you are which gives the place that true local feel.
On the food menu you can have your classic home food of Sheppard’s pie, B.L.T.’s or an Ulster fry-up complete with all. Other homely features include an open fire, Irish memorabilia planted all over the pub and the vast selection of music that extends into all tastes and genres.
Despite all these home values, Finn McCool’s is a buzzing place where travellers will meet travellers and where fascinating travel stories are told that make their way back to Quito. The two owners, Ursula Brankin and Lee Vinter have made the place what it is.
“Travellers often meet here by chance and then go off together,” says Ursula. “It really has become that sort of pub where people do feel at home here which is exactly what we wanted to create.”
Their open house feel, make you feel immediately comfortable in a pub that can get quite rowdy on weekend nights. “We try and introduce people as soon as they get here to each other,” says Lee. “That´s the way you get the local atmosphere in a pub that changes its custom every week.”
Hosting a successful pub quiz every Tuesday night has also increased the popularity of the pub, with the world English speaking community joining forces to create the winning team.
Furthermore, the pub also shows live coverage of the major sporting events around the world including the English Premier League, Champions League, UEFA Cup, NFL and even the odd cricket game on demand.
Talk in Finn McCool’s suggests there will be Table-football and pool tournaments as well as jam evenings for any of the travelling bands of South America.
